The standard franchise agreement matches the restaurant lease agreement. The majority of restaurant lease agreements are normally of a 10-year duration, this is typically co-terminus with the expiry of the lease.
The entire process can take between 6 to 12 months; this is dependant on the availability and timeline for the real estate.
At MTY Group we feel that when an owner is present full time the restaurant offers the best quality food and customer service, most of our QSR brands require one shareholder to be an owner operator.

Yes. We have a team of designers and construction professionals to aid in the construction process.
You may use your own contractor, the MTY Group construction team will need to certify them and would include them in your projects tender process. The MTY Group Construction team will provide a full set of drawing for contractors to quote on. Ideally only approved certified contractors would provide prices.
Typically store constuction takes between 90-120 days for a QSR and can be upto 6 months for a full service restaurant, however, this is dependant on the supply chain for materials and availablity of contactors.
MTY Group brands are supported by the majority of national banks in Canada. MTY Group does not provide financial assistance although can recommend certain financial institutions to partner with. MTY Group will be guiding you throughout this process so that you are able to achieve the desired outcome.
It is strongly recommended that franchisees be responsible for day-to-day operations. Some of our highest performing locations are run by the owner operator.

However, there are several general factors to consider when selecting a location for a restaurant including; the Location and its visability, accessibility, demographics and Competition; Size and Layout of the unit; does the zoning and permits allow for a restaurant; is there ample parking and/or foot traffic; the rental cost of the unit and cost to install the required serivce required for a restaurant.
MTY Group ensures that franchisees can learn the basic skills necessary to successfully operate their restaurant. The duration of the training varies depending on the brand. MTY University is also an integral part of the learning process, it consists of one week of online learning.
No, MTY Group provides full training and support, however, managment and restaurant knowledge is an asset.
